Jn 15:9-17 May 14 Wed Pray-as-you-go.org

Hi ~

1.  word or phrase that got me: fruit

2. emotion evoked: fear

3. invitation I wish to respond to: “Be at Home in My love.”  If I die to my friends, I have the greatest kind of love; if I love others (do what God commands), I will remain in His love; if I remain in His love, my joy will be complete, and I will bear fruit that will last.  Then I will receive whatever I ask.  For me today, the answer to this invitation is all about dying to self for the sake of others.  The repercussions are tremendous.  A seed died to produce the Jasmine plant my son-in-law planted in my back yard.  Like the fruit of the Spirit (joy, in this passage), a little sun, a little water, and a little time, and spring comes and there are the most beautifully fragarant blooms going to town on our back steps.  I want to be at home with this domino process.  Lord, help me to love.

  1. Word(s) that caught my attention:                your joy may be complete
  2. Emotion evoked:                                        sense of peace
  3. Invitation for me:                                        Every time I accomplish a big project or reach an important milestone in my life I am usually so tired that I do not even enjoy my achievements. For some reason joy is never complete for me. Knowing that Christ invites us into relationship with Him in order for us to find the complete joy. In John 15 Christ tells us that that joy comes from giving yourself to Him. What we often do is giving ourselves to others, which is a noble thing but very exhausting and frustrating; however, Christ wants us to give ourselves to each other through Him. Branches can only connect with each other through the Vine. The only source of the complete joy is the Vine.
